After a stunning defeat at UFC 298, Alexander Volkanovski isn’t throwing in the towel just yet. Despite his loss to Ilia Topuria, the former champion remains adamant that their paths will cross again – and the outcome will be different.
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Volkanovski expressed his determination to reclaim victory. “Last night, I was a nail. I’ve been the hammer many times. I’ve ruined a lot of people’s party many times. Last night, Ilia got the job done,” he said, reflecting on his defeat.
“I thought I was doing great. I felt great in there,” he continued. “You know what? You know, I think the judges had me up the 1st round, and I think I was starting to pick it up even more in the second. I was ready to even go another level. Had him missing, started to touch him, and then I was gonna keep adding on.”
Looking ahead, Volkanovski is already eyeing a rematch. “Next time, it’ll be different,” he declared. While acknowledging the need for rest and recuperation, he expressed his eagerness to step back into the Octagon and set things right. “So I’m gonna do everything right for the next one,” Volkanovski concluded. “And I’m gonna get that belt back, mark my words. But again, I appreciate the support. You guys are awesome. All I can say is I’ll be back.”
With Volkanovski’s determination clear, the question arises: Is he setting himself up for a hasty return, or is he wisely biding his time? Share your thoughts in the comments below, fight fans!
