Reigning welterweight champion Leon Edwards is ready to defend his title at UFC 304, which is just one week away. In the highly anticipated fight, Edwards, known as ‘Rocky’, will face the energetic Belal Muhammad. Both fighters are scheduled to put on a spectacular show for the fans. Edwards’ journey to the top has inspired many young fighters.
But his contender ‘Remember the Name’ has earned his place as a legitimate front-runner. As the fight draws closer, Edwards’ trainer emphasizes the champion’s huge advantage over Muhammad.
Leon Edwards’ Boxing Skills Confirmed by his Coach
Leon Edwards is well aware that his next fight at UFC 304 will be boxing-heavy, and he’s well-prepared for it. ‘Rocky’ has enlisted the help of renowned trainer Kambi Banger to fine-tune his boxing skills. In a video posted by the UFC on YouTube, Banger shared his thoughts on Edwards. According to Banger, Edwards is one of the most consistent fighters in the division, and his wrestling is top notch. “He’s very talented. His talent in sports, just in wrestling,” Banger said.

Banger also insisted that ‘Rocky’ has the ability to surprise opponent ‘Remember the Name’ who is known for his wrestling skills and currently has a winning “way he (Edwards) breaks the pole. He is adaptable. He is not good at one thing; He is good at everything. He is a master of his boxing. His playing speaks for itself. I know everyone is probably expecting Belal to come out and wrestle, but Leon has shown he can wrestle,” Banger added.
Belal Muhammad Ready to Succeed Leon Edwards
Belal Muhammad recently shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight in an interview on the ‘Weighing In’ podcast. Full of confidence, the 36-year-old is believed to be Edwards’ strongest opponent.
Muhammad and Edwards first met at UFC Fight Night in 2021. That technical bout ended in no match due to Edwards’ accidental eye-poke, forcing the referees to stop the fight and now Belal has a chance to drop were and has won the title at UFC 304. Muhammad is on top, undefeated in his last five fights do. Speaking to Josh Thomson on his podcast, he said, “I hope he comes out and tries to take me down. I hope he comes out and tries to wrestle.”
The first leader also issued a stern warning to the candidate. Muhammad is confident he has the skills to beat Edwards. “I’m telling you, I’m levels above that everywhere. Even if people tell me I can play it, lie down and pray. I tell you I can knock it out. I could have kicked him out. The way I look at this fight, he’s never alone with anyone like me,” Belal declared.
Edwards Team Confident in the Leader’s Ability
For most fights, Edwards usually enters the octagon as a struggler. But the 32-year-old has consistently proved the doubters wrong. ‘Rocky’ and his team are confident in his abilities and believe he can match Muhammad.
Edwards’ coach, Dave Lovell, downplayed the threat posed by Muhammad, emphasizing that Edwards is well-rounded and capable of handling any challenge. “Leon is improving in everything. People don’t realize how versatile he is,” Lovell said.
