Known for her model-like looks and impressive MMA skills, Tracy Cortez was ready for her long-awaited return to the Octagon. She will face two-time champion Rose Namajunas. Still, Cortez’s comeback went well. The 30-year-old fighter had to lay off for a long time due to a series of injuries, which sidelined him for quite some time.
Overcoming Personal and Physical Barriers
Despite his personal struggles, Cortez has a stellar resume. From his 2019 debut, he has only suffered one career defeat and is still unbeaten in the UFC. But he hasn’t experienced any setbacks in his career. A pectoral muscle injury that required a year to heal led Cortez to miss action following her 2022 victory against Melissa Gatto.
Injury Hardship and Recovery
Cortez’s injury woes began after his win over Gatto. He revealed the extent of his struggle and the surgeries he underwent to get him in fighting shape. “Life gets in the way. I tore my pec really badly at the beginning of the year and then as it was getting better…at the end of March I had surgery on my arm. After my hand surgery, I started running more and tore my MCL. So there were just minor injuries here and there,” Cortez shared.

Training in Brazil: A Bold Move
Cortez courageously journeyed to Brazil to train with the renowned Pitbull brothers while he was away from the Octagon. This choice turned out to be a game-changer for his professional life. “Everyone on the team [in Brazil] was incredibly kind.” “Hey, give me a fight,” I texted my manager and coaches after returning, applying all I had learned. I feel well, I’m ready, and my health is fine. My arm was still sore at that point from the surgery, but other than that, everything was fine,” Cortez continued.
Progress and Development
Cortez’s decision to train in Brazil wasn’t just to get better; It was about growing up. He sought to grow personally and professionally. “I was just learning. I was taking it all in. [It was] a new experience, out of the country. I went there myself. It was scary but it was also an amazing experience,” Cortez said. He believes the experience has changed the way he fights, making him a better player. “I just wanted to grow, not just as a person but as a player. I looked at myself and I think I’m my biggest critic… I knew I wanted to evolve, I knew I wanted to grow [and] I knew I wanted to change my style.”
Thinking About that Trip
Reflecting on his trip, Cortez is ready to take on the Namjuna. He became the boxer he is now because of his injuries, relocation to Brazil, and unwavering drive for growth. Her narrative demonstrates fortitude, tenacity, and an unrelenting commitment to the truth.
Upcoming Confrontations
Fighting Namajuna demonstrates Cortez’s commitment and diligence more than merely a competitive match. His supporters can’t wait to see if his redesigned form and enhanced fighting skills can help him prevail. The octagonal doors lock behind her, as Tracy Cortez steps in not just as a combatant but also as a representation of toughness and power.
