Dagestan was little known outside of Russia ten years ago. These days, the rough and hilly landscape has come to represent extreme boxing, unique punching, and complete dominance in the mixed martial arts (MMA) world. From the Bellator cage to the UFC octagon, Dagestan has produced athletes who have consistently dominated the sport.
The MMA industry has experienced unparalleled expansion in the small Russian nation of only three million people. The word “Dagestan” has become synonymous with success thanks to UFC icons like Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev, as well as upcoming talents like Omar Nurmagomedov. But what is the key to this dominance?
Javier Mendez Reveals the Secret Behind Dagestani Success
Head coach of the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) Javier Mendez, who is credited with making Khabib and Makhachev successful, offered his thoughts on the event. Speaking candidly about Dagestani’s success on the sport’s muscles, Mendez spoke with MMA journalist “The Shmo.” Mendez claims that the most of the credit goes to Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.
Mendez clarified that Khabib, Makhachev, and even Omar-Nurmagomedov, among other new-generation fighters, achieved success because to Abdulmanap’s alleged “paternal system.”
Abdulmanap is the father of Khabib. The father worked these children from the time they were tiny boys according to a strategy that he had. According to Mendez, if she were still living, she would be the one doing all of the interviews, discussing her children and their journey here. “Just starting to get into his tail. Do not misunderstand; I did my share. But because this is the Father’s main plan, I always make sure to credit and pay tribute to the great Abdul Manap by saying that it was his idea.
“The Father’s Plan”: The Winner’s Plan
The idea of “the plan of the Father” is a way of life rather than just a methodology. Khabib wasn’t the only person Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov trained. It also influenced the professional lives of Islam Makhachev, Omar Nurmagomedov, and Osman Nurmagomedov, the latter of whom went on to win the lightweight title in Bellator.
Abdulmanap’s techniques have been passed down through the generations like a family legacy, leading these athletes to previously unheard-of heights. Even though Abdulmanap is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through his students who execute his carefully crafted game plan in the cage.
Omar Nurmagomedov: Next in Line
Omar Nurmagomedov, Khabib’s cousin, is a strong contender to succeed him as the Dagestani winner. Following his recent triumph over Corey Sandhagen, he is now the next in line to challenge Sean O’Malley for the UFC bantamweight title. Omar will battle either O’Malley or fellow Caucasian fighter Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306. While Javier Mendez has his sights set on O’Malley, Khabib would like to take on Omar Dvalishvili. In addition to being more difficult, Mendez thinks that battling “Suga” Sheen will increase interest in and support for pay-per-view (PPV) events.

Naturally, one would have to be a fool not to believe that O’Malley would be the greatest option. However, it goes without saying that we will fight any fight that presents itself. However, I think O’Malley is the main attraction, Mendez continued.
A Significance Test
There’s one thing that Umar will definitely encounter next: a challenging exam. Sean O’Malley is regarded as one of the most lethal fighters in the UFC, and for Omar, this is not only a title battle but an opportunity to demonstrate that he is among the elite of the elite. Merab Dwalishvili’s relentless boxing has humbled even Olympic gold medalists.
Omar Nurmagomedov’s status as one of the best bantamweight fighters in the world will be assured if he defeats Dvalishvili or O’Malley. The Dagestani monarchy does not appear to be in decline, according to Abdulmanap-Nurmagomedov’s “paternal system.”
