The Untold Truth Unveiled

In her upcoming memoir, Our Fight, Rousey peels back the layers of fame and fortune to reveal the harrowing journey that led to her decision to retire from both the UFC and WWE. At the heart of her revelation lies a stark reality—one defined by a history of severe concussions that plagued her since her days as an Olympic judo competitor.

“My concussion history that I had to keep secret for years, so I would be able to continue to compete and perform,” Rousey confessed during an Instagram Live session. “That’s basically why I had to retire.”

For Rousey, the decision to conceal her concussion history was not merely a matter of personal choice—it was a strategic maneuver to ensure her continued participation in the sports she loved. The fear of jeopardizing her career loomed large, forcing her to remain silent even in the face of defeat.

A Legacy Defined by Courage

Despite her unparalleled success in the octagon, Rousey’s journey was fraught with challenges both inside and outside the ring. Her losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes marked the end of an era in the UFC, but for Rousey, they were merely symptoms of a deeper struggle—one that transcended mere physicality.

“A really hard decision to understand, but one that my body made for me,” Rousey reflected. “I feel like this is the only way to get that across in the best, most complete way that it’s not just a tweet and a headline short.”

Yet, even as she faced adversity head-on, Rousey’s indomitable spirit remained unbroken. Her transition to professional wrestling with WWE showcased her versatility and adaptability, earning her accolades and adoration from fans around the globe.

A Candid Reflection on WWE

However, Rousey’s time with WWE was not without its challenges. In her memoir, she pulls no punches in recounting her experiences with the company, shedding light on the inner workings of an industry often shrouded in secrecy and speculation.

“[The book reveals] how much of an absolute s*** show it is at the WWE,” Rousey candidly admitted. “Because they can’t hold a sword over my head and hold me hostage with my career.”

Her departure from WWE was marked by controversy, with Rousey pointing the finger at two WWE executives—John Laurinaitis and Bruce Prichard—as the main culprits behind her decision to leave the company.

“In MMA, I originally just started [beef with my opponents] for publicity but those other b****** did not get the memo and so they became personal,” Rousey asserted. “In WWE, it’s all fake, I love them. Except for Bruce Prichard and John Laurinaitis, they can go f*** themselves. That’s real.”

A Journey of Redemption and Resilience

As Rousey’s memoir prepares to hit stores on April 2, it promises to offer readers a rare glimpse into the tumultuous life of one of the most iconic figures in sports history. With her nationwide tour set to kick off, Rousey’s Q&A sessions will provide fans with an opportunity to delve deeper into the stories that shaped her career and define her legacy.

In the end, Rousey’s journey serves as a testament to the power of perseverance and the resilience of the human spirit. Despite the setbacks and challenges she faced along the way, she emerged stronger, wiser, and more determined than ever before. And as she embarks on this next chapter of her life, one thing remains abundantly clear—Ronda Rousey is a fighter in every sense of the word, both inside and outside the ring.
