Dana White’s Strategy to Connect With Makhachev and Chimaev
Welterweight champion Leon Edwards revealed some behind-the-scenes information on UFC manager Dana White’s doubles strategy. Before UFC 304, Edwards said that White had initially submitted three opponents before the fight was announced. The winners are Islam Makhachev, Khamzat Chimaev and Shavkat Rakhmonov.
The Inspiration of Leon Edwards
Edwards is in Manchester preparing for his third title defense, he revealed during an interview with Ariel Helwani. He said that while he would love to fight anyone, Dana White didn’t think he would face the current number one contender, Belal Muhammad.
“Yes (Dana White gave him Makhachev, Chimaev and Rakhmonov as options). So, I thought, ‘I’m going to fight someone because I’m known for that,'” Edwards said. “I said… ‘Where’s Berard?’ They haven’t taken it yet.
Answer by Belal Muhammad
It remains to be seen how Belal Muhammad will respond to the news, if he proves Dana White wrong at UFC 304. Conor McGregor had a lot to say on the Kick broadcast recently, including some nasty words about Khabib Nurmagomedov’s $3 million tax dispute. McGregor says the Eagle deserves his problems, saying he has fallen into a “mouse trap”.
Ali Abdelaziz’s Angry Response
Ali Abdelaziz, Nurmagomedov’s manager and longtime fan of McGregor, declined to comment. He issued a stern warning to McGregor via Twitter. “[Conor McGregor] you keep talking about Khabib and you forget what’s going on with you and your team. Be careful what you wish for because if you keep talking, none of you will be around safe,” writes Abd Dule Aziz.

McGregor’s Next Move
It is still to be known if McGregor would soften his remarks or if he will stick with his animosity toward Khabib. One of the greatest rivalries in mixed martial arts (MMA) is still going strong between these two fighters..
