McGregor to Fight Chandler at UFC 303: White Confirms Long-Awaited Bout
UFC CEO Dana White has officially announced that Conor McGregor will face off against Michael Chandler in the main event of UFC 303 on June 29 in Las Vegas. McGregor’s return to the octagon has been highly anticipated, especially after his previous injury.
White’s announcement on Saturday night solidified McGregor’s long-speculated matchup against Chandler. The fight, scheduled to take place at 170 pounds, will be a highlight of the UFC’s International Fight Week.
The Irish fighter’s last appearance in the UFC was in July 2021, where he suffered a leg injury in a bout against Dustin Poirier. McGregor, known as the biggest star in UFC history, has been out of action since then, eagerly awaiting his return to the octagon.
Chandler, on the other hand, hasn’t fought since his submission loss to Poirier in November 2022. Despite the defeat, Chandler remains one of the most formidable fighters in the lightweight division, with an impressive record and a history of championship titles in Bellator.
The matchup between McGregor and Chandler was initially teased during their stint as coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter” in 2023. Now, with the fight officially announced, fans are gearing up for what promises to be an electrifying showdown between two of the UFC’s most iconic fighters.
