UFC light heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev has a bold message for reigning champion Alex Pereira. While the MMA world is buzzing with the prospect of a possible fight between the two, Ankalayev is confident in his incredible ability and not intimidated by Pereira’s dreaded name.
Pereira Strikes Boldly Investigated by Ankalayev
Magomed Ankalaev is not impressed with UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira’s impressive skill set. Known for his devastating knockout power and former two-weight Glory kickboxing champion, Pereira has earned a reputation as one of the best standup fighters in the sport but Ankalaev believes Pereira’s standup is overhyped.
In a recent interview with Mike Bone, Ankalaev aired his criticism of Pereira’s beating. “For Alex, all you have to look at is a couple of fights ago,” Ankalayev said. “With (Jan) Blachowicz, you know, he had wrestling on one side, Alex didn’t have much. So does (Israel) Adesanya, they are both strikers but Adesanya was able to teach him some boxing.”
Ankalaev suggested that Pereira’s aggressive, forward style could lead to openings. “I think he’s a great striker. But he’s the type that always goes forward, and that’s where he can sometimes go wrong. There I will arrest him,” Ankalayev said.
Confidence in Your Knowledge
Pereira has an impressive resume, including a notable win over Jiri Prochazka and a tough knockout of Jamahal Hill, and Ankalaev remains unconcerned that Pereira’s standup game might not be what it cannot be overcome as such. “He definitely has a strong punch, but I think overall his fighting style is overwhelming,” Ankalayev insisted.

Ankalayev also pointed to Pereira’s past performances, suggesting the winner may have had some luck. “Look at the battle with Mount Jamahal; Something had to be given in return. Same thing with the fight with Prochazka. … Maybe he was lucky or he didn’t face serious opposition,” Ankalayev speculated.
Potential Conflict of the Titans
While campaigning for a title, Ankalaev remains committed to the idea of facing Pereira. He made it clear that he was ready to be on his feet with the leader and determined to make a statement. “I am ready to oppose him,” Ankalayev declared.
The Russian champion’s confidence extends to a guarantee of victory. Ankalayev voices his intention to dismiss Pereira. “Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, New York, Vegas — it doesn’t matter where, ever by KO, be ready,” Ankalayev tweeted, flaunting his readiness for a high-stakes fight against Pereira
Looking Ahead
Magomed Ankalayev’s challenge to Alex Pereira has generated excitement in the MMA community. Fans and analysts are eager to see if Ankalayev’s predictions come true if the two fighters eventually clash inside the Octagon. The potential clash promises to be an exciting encounter, with Ankalayev’s impressive skill set and Pereira’s scoring ability set to be a top-flight battle
As the UFC continues to build up for the rest of its calendar year, the chances of Ankalaev vs. UFC are on the rise. A Pereira title fight remains a tantalizing possibility. Whether Ankalayev can live up to his bold statement and dethrone the victors will be the main story to follow.
