Khamzat Chimaev Calls Out Logan Paul for Dodging Sparring: “He Only Fought an Amateur”
UFC’s rising welterweight contender, Khamzat Chimaev, recently shared an intriguing encounter with YouTube boxer Logan Paul. During an appearance on The MMA Hour, Chimaev revealed that Paul visited his gym in Sweden during his early days as a pro, but his willingness to spar was selective.
According to Chimaev, despite being a professional fighter with a 2-0 record at the time, Paul opted to spar with an amateur member of the gym, leaving the pros untouched. “He didn’t wanna spar with me or other guys who’s professional,” Chimaev recounted, shedding light on the encounter.
While Chimaev initially didn’t recognize Paul, he acknowledged the improvement in both Paul brothers’ boxing skills over time. However, he hinted at a potential future showdown with them, expressing interest in facing them in the ring.
Despite the encounter, Chimaev remains focused on his UFC career and his pursuit of championship gold. Currently ranked No. 3 in the UFC welterweight division, he awaits his shot at the title, held by Kamaru Usman. His next bout is set for UFC 279 in September, where he will face the legendary Nate Diaz in the main event.
