UFC president Dana White disclosed the severity of Jones’ injury in an open Instagram video, stating that Jones tore a pectoral muscle during training. “He was wrestling and the tendon that connects his pectoral muscle to the bone was torn,” White stated.

White also said Jones will be out for a long time, with an eight-month recovery period following the surgery. This leaves the former light heavyweight champion on the sidelines for the foreseeable future, creating uncertainty about his return to the Octagon.
