They did not wait for the New Year to begin and this time the controversy is involving the YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul. This time, it is not for his action, fighting or controversies but with regards to the use of banned substances, more specifically performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). Since the battle with former UFC contender Mike Perry, there have been some allegations that were laid on Paul, that he might be using steroids.
Transformation Sparks Controversy
Mike Perry hinted at possible PED use by Paul back in July 2024 as he noted his swollen muscles that he couldn’t explain from the PVF fighter. Speaking on FightHub TV, Perry said, ”To put on 25 pounds, I don’t know how someone does it. I guess without a cheat code.” This comment paved way for more attention to be focused on Paul’s obesity and increased muscles mass gainer.

Dillon Danis Stokes the Flames
In the past month, Dillon Danis, Conor McGregor teammate, has taken to social media himself to publicly anathematize Paul for using anabolic steroids. Danis posted a picture of Paul in which the latter had what seemed like pimples on the face, which is usually a consequence of steroid intake. On X, Danis typed “Steroids are bad kids,” and on his Instagram posting the same picture with caption “wtf ?”.
Paul’s Dramatic Weight Gain
It has been for many months now that the aspect of the transformation of the physical features of Paul has been a discourse. Regarding a rescheduled bout with Mike Tyson, media claimed that Paul increase his weight to the heavyweight limit of Tyson by as much as 30-40lb. Shane Mosley his coach said that at one time Paul’s weight was 230 but he was still as fast as when he was 185.
Current Feud between Danis and Paul
Everyone aware of the animosity between Danis and Paul especially in the fighting fraternity. Well, it will also come down to perceiving that Danis has joined the chain of accusations against Nasim again, only continuing the rivalry between the two. Despite this, one must appreciate that the allegations made are more often than not made without supporting evidence.
Fans React to Allegations
The fighting community has been vocal about the allegations against Paul. Many fans believe the acne on Paul’s face is a side effect of steroid use. Comments on Instagram and X reflect these suspicions. One fan wrote, “Roids side affects,” while another added, “Steroids will do that to you.”
Signs of Steroid Use
Acne is not the only sign of steroid use. Rapid weight gain, hair loss, and other physical changes can also indicate steroid abuse. Some fans pointed out these symptoms in their comments. One fan noted, “gained 30+ lbs, balding, acne… it doesn’t get any more obvious and people think he’s clean.” Another commented, “All symptoms of using steroids or heavy SARMs. Also makes sense bc Jake can’t make 185 anymore… someone needs to test this fool.”
Personal Experiences Fuel Speculation
Fans with personal experience with steroid users also chimed in. One user commented, “Oh yah recognize those. My old roommate would get the same acne all over his back and chest. It’s very distinct looking.” Another fan linked Paul’s avoidance of sanctioned matches to potential steroid use, writing, “Yeah no way he doesn’t juice. That’s why he won’t fight sanctioned boxing matches cuz they test for roids.”
As of now, Jake Paul has not officially responded to these allegations. The fighting community remains divided, with some demanding evidence and others convinced of his guilt.
