Serghei Spivac Submits Marcin Tybura at UFC Vegas 95, Gets Called Out by Jailton Almeida for Next Fight

In the pulsating atmosphere of the UFC Apex this past Saturday, Serghei Spivac made a resounding statement in his rematch against Marcin Tybura at UFC Vegas 95. After losing to Tybura by unanimous decision in their first encounter back in 2020, Spivac was determined to rewrite history—and that’s exactly what he did. The Moldovan heavyweight, known as “The Polar Bear,” needed less than two minutes to secure an armbar submission victory, leaving no doubt about his intentions in the division.

With the win, Spivac not only avenged his previous loss but also put the entire heavyweight division on notice. During his post-fight interview, Spivac was measured in his words, choosing not to call out any specific names but making it clear that he’s aiming for a higher-ranked opponent next. His focus was on moving up the ladder, targeting fighters who could propel him closer to a title shot.

But while Spivac remained tight-lipped about his next opponent, someone else was ready to speak up. Jailton Almeida, currently ranked just one spot below Spivac, quickly seized the opportunity to throw his hat into the ring. Taking to social media, Almeida directly challenged Spivac, tweeting, “Spivac, do you want someone above you in the rankings? I’m here!! #7 vs #8. I want to fight, Bro! Happy you got the finish early, so we can fight soon!”

The callout set the MMA community abuzz, as fans began speculating about the potential showdown between the two heavyweights. During the post-fight press conference, Spivac was asked about Almeida’s challenge. In his typically stoic manner, Spivac responded simply, “Let him train.” The brief comment, while not dismissive, suggested that Spivac is fully aware of Almeida’s ambitions but remains focused on his own journey.

This victory over Tybura was crucial for Spivac, especially after his previous setback against Ciryl Gane, where he suffered a second-round TKO loss. That defeat had snapped a promising three-fight winning streak and temporarily halted his momentum in the division. However, Spivac’s performance at UFC Vegas 95 demonstrated that he’s not only back on track but more dangerous than ever. His submission victory was clinical, showcasing his ground game prowess and reaffirming his status as a top contender.

On the other side, Jailton Almeida is carving out his own path in the heavyweight division. After a stunning first-round submission win over Alexander Romanov, Almeida is eager to continue climbing the ranks. Despite a recent knockout loss to Curtis Blaydes—a setback that likely cost him a shot at an interim heavyweight title—Almeida remains undeterred. His eyes are firmly set on proving himself against the best, and he sees Spivac as the perfect opponent to elevate his standing.

Both fighters are now on parallel paths, with each victory bringing them closer to the coveted UFC title. The potential Spivac vs. Almeida matchup is a tantalizing prospect, pitting two hungry, skilled heavyweights against each other in what could be a defining moment for both of their careers. For Spivac, it’s an opportunity to solidify his place among the elite and make a case for a title shot. For Almeida, it’s a chance to prove that he belongs at the top and can overcome any obstacle in his quest for gold.

As the UFC heavyweight division continues to evolve, the rivalry between these two fighters could become one of the most exciting storylines to watch. Whether or not Spivac accepts Almeida’s challenge, one thing is certain: the road to the heavyweight title is only getting more intense, and both Spivac and Almeida are ready to make their mark.
