In the buildup to UFC 305, Israel Adesanya has become a target for former UFC middleweight contender Darren Till. With Adesanya preparing for a bout against the current middleweight title-holder, Dricus Du Plessis, on 17 August in Perth, Australia, Till has felt the need to give some advice. The former fighter who has fought with Du Plessis said he has knowledge that could enable Adesanya to regain the belt which he surrendered in the past year.
Till’s advice though does not come with the same pomp and grandeur as hoped for. At UFC 282 two years ago, the Englishman lost to Du Plessis, so it is not surprising that he directs his comments X to the latter, emphasizing the tactics that Adesanya is already famous for. Him and I exchanged some words on how he should put it on DDP Saturday Got a lot of feints he react a lot to them and throws from the hills get out of range then take a look at him Get a hit in them punch combo the knee maybe a kick… DDP will rush in instead of standing back or going back like most of these f****** silly stupid strikers Till told Izzy.

He went on further to advise Adesanya to stand firm and launch a counterattack as soon as Du Plessis tries to rush in, which apparently seems so elementary for a fighter of such calibre as Adesanya. ‘Stan ur ground and just hit him with either again the punch combo or even a knee up the middle.’ I personally love the elbow as they are lunging in, but it’s whatever suits at that time and whatever you have practiced,” Till added.
The Heated Feud Between Adesanya and Du Plessis
This fight isn’t just about the title for Adesanya—it’s personal. The rivalry between Adesanya and Du Plessis has been brewing for over a year, fueled by comments from Du Plessis that Adesanya interpreted as a challenge to his African heritage. The feud has added an extra layer of intensity to the upcoming clash, with both fighters eager to prove themselves not just as the best in the division, but as the true representative of African MMA.
Adesanya, who is fighting to regain the title and settle this score, will no doubt approach the fight with the same meticulous strategy that has made him one of the most feared strikers in the sport. While Till’s advice may not add much to Adesanya’s already well-rounded skill set, the former champion will still need to be at his best to overcome Du Plessis and reclaim his throne.
The End of Darren Till’s UFC Career
While Adesanya and Du Plessis prepare for their high-stakes showdown, Darren Till finds himself in a very different place. Once a promising contender in the UFC, Till’s career has been marred by injuries and setbacks. His early years in the UFC were marked by impressive victories, as he quickly made a name for himself with a six-fight winning streak. However, back-to-back losses in 2018 and 2019 began to erode his hype.
The real downfall began in 2020 when knee injuries started to plague Till’s career. In his Fight Night clash against Robert Whittaker, Till tore his MCL, and before he could fully recover, he suffered a torn ACL the following year. By the time he faced Du Plessis in 2021, he was already battling significant physical limitations. Another torn ACL during that fight effectively ended his UFC career.
