The UFC is not new to some drama especially between fighters or during the buildup to their fights through press conferences. But there are few rivalries that have developed as fast and heated as the one between the flyweight competitors Kai Kara-France and Manel Kape. The normal pre-event UFC 293 press conference became the center of an episode involving Paulo Costa and the UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya.
During the event tension of Kara-France and Kape finally enlarged and it became apparent that Kape had outraged by the withdrawal of Kara-France in their battles at the fight, he slammed a water bottle at Kara-France on the audience. The confrontation not only led to an exchange of words between the two fighters, but also engaged Adesanya who was on the stage at the time and is a teammate of Kara-France.

A Rivalry Ignites
Explaining the scuffle, it must be noted that the hate between Kai Kara-France and Manel Kape is not fresh; it is rooted. It escalated when both fighters were initially kept for a plan bout at UFC 293. Nonetheless, Kara-France was pulled out off the fight after he received a concussion in the training camp. The New Zealand fighter declared that he is out in social media saying he is disappointed but he does not want to end up severely injured.
“So unfortunately, I’ve had to withdraw from my next fight in Sydney, Australia UFC 293 I’ve been speaking to my coaches and my team and my family they all think it’s the right decision to withdraw from the contest I suffered a concussion over the weekend training I am gutted I won’t be a part of this card,” he said.
But Kape was far from understanding. Orist, a fighter of Portuguese-Angolan origin who has also been described as hot-headed, was evidently angry about Kara-France’s decision. In a press conference set at UFC 293, Kape did not spare Kara-France and instead decided to take a dig at him showering him with all sorts of vulgarities.
Manel Kape’s Fury Unleashed
Kape couldn’t unleash his temper during the fight but he did so during the post-press conference interview. ‘There is a fcking btch in front of me and you are fcking guilty because on Sunday this is going to be murder because of you, you fcking p*ssy,’ spat Kape, full of hatred. “You backed out because you had dizziness, you had three weeks to fight.Let’s see what you have got.” Not only with his words, Kape wanted to go further and proved what he said by throwing a water bottle to Kara-France.
Israel Adesanya Steps In
And as the situation escalated, Israel Adesanya who was on the stage felt like coming to the aid of his team mate. Kape, however, took his aggression to the reigning middleweight champion: Adesanya and showered him with abuses. Amidst pushing and swearing: ‘What you want, what you want, what you want? All right, yeah, yeah, shut the f**k [up], sit down,’ Kape yelled aggressively.
But Adesanya who was on the receiving end did not in any way give in to Kape’s instigation. “Oh take a look at this little midget thinking he can f*** with me, I will f****** kill you,” was Adesanya’s reply, his tone not a bit shaken, more like a furious man. The interaction between the two contenders did not take long to turn into the main agenda of the press conference.
