Brazilian Origins of “Capoeira”

Native to Francisco Beltrao, Paraná, Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos has always had a strong affinity for mixed arts. However, what really made him stand out was his proficiency in capoeira, a Brazilian martial technique that incorporates dance, acrobatics, and music. Dos Santos was engrossed in the distinctive fusion of sport and tradition of capoeira from the age of nine. Capoeira is more than just a combat sport.

Dos Santos consider capoeira to be a way of life rather than merely a trendy term. He incorporates fluid motions and powerful kicks into his fighting style because he views capoeira as a significant component of his character.  Unlike some fighters who have abandoned traditional techniques in favor of more traditional techniques, dos Santos has stayed true to the style of art  that shaped his journey.

McGregor Returns to Capoeira

Dos Santos is not the only fighter to draw inspiration from capoeira. Conor McGregor showed off his own style of capoeira kicking early in his  career. While McGregor switched to a different style of fighting, dos Santos still adheres to  the principles of Capoeira in the Octagon.

Demonstrating Dos Santos’ Capoeira Moves

Dos Santos showed off his capoeira prowess in an impressive fight against former middleweight champion Sean Strickland at UFC 224. On the show, dos Santos performed the spinning heel kick – a classic capoeira move – in eventually resulting in a TKO victory. True to his Brazilian origins, dos Santos celebrated his victory with incredible capoeira moves that showcased the mastery of  the art form in mixed  arts.

The Future of Capoeira in the UFC

As dos Santos continues to demonstrate the effectiveness of Capoeira in the Octagon, the future of this traditional martial art looks promising. Capoeira’s emphasis on agility, flexibility, and creativity can have unique benefits for fighters willing to embrace its principles. As the UFC landscape continues to grow, we may see more fighters incorporating elements of capoeira into their repertoire, enhancing its heritage.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the possibility of dos Santos returning to the Octagon. Dos Santos, who is passionate about Capoeira, is a living example of innovation and tradition, inspiring a new generation of warriors to embrace their culture and strive for glory.

Dos Santos’ ability to capoeira not only established him  as a boxer, but also tested the  legacy of the martial arts. In a sport where athletes  seek to benefit through many techniques and styles, dos Santos has always taken capoeira and demonstrated its effectiveness every time  on the biggest stages.

When fans watch dos Santos’ fluid moves and powerful punches, they are reminded of the great culture that inspired him. Every spin, kick and dodge celebrates the ancient traditions of Capoeira, a martial art born  of perseverance and endurance.

In a fast-paced fight in the Octagon, dos Santos’ role goes beyond athleticism – it becomes a celebration of heritage and culture. In each game, the weight of history rests on his shoulders, showing the spirit of Capoeira to fans around the world. As dos Santos continues to thrive in the UFC, his influence extends far beyond the confines of the Octagon. He is not just a hero; He is a cultural ambassador who shows the beauty and power of capoeira to the world public. While he remains in the spotlight, the legacy of “Capoeira” lives on in the world of mixed martial arts.
