After earning his first UFC victory, Dennis Buzukja sets his sights on a Tristate homecoming, eyeing Newark and MSG as potential venues for his next fight.
The 26-year-old fighter secured a third-round TKO victory over Connor Matthews at UFC on ESPN 54 held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. This triumph marked a significant milestone in Buzukja’s career, not only clinching his inaugural win in the UFC but also earning his first bonus.
Reflecting on his victory, Buzukja expressed his determination to continue evolving as a fighter. He emphasized his commitment to constant improvement, vowing to showcase a more refined and composed performance in each subsequent bout.
Having faced setbacks earlier in his UFC journey, with losses in his first two fights, Buzukja opened up about the challenges he encountered and the doubts he grappled with. However, he credited his unwavering faith, supportive team, and personal resilience for helping him overcome these obstacles and emerge stronger.
Looking ahead, Buzukja revealed his aspirations for redemption, particularly aiming to avenge his previous defeat to Jamall Emmers. He expressed eagerness to compete at MSG (Madison Square Garden) in November, viewing it as a crucial opportunity to secure a significant victory in his hometown of New York.
Despite his plans for a triumphant return to MSG, Buzukja remains open to the possibility of fighting in Newark as early as June, should the UFC opt for that venue. He emphasized his willingness to stay active and compete regularly, expressing confidence in his youth and physical condition to handle the demands of frequent fights.
