Daniel Cormier knows what is in store for him here in Salt Lake City. The welterweight contender Joaquin Buckley, who hadn’t looked good in a month, was the opponent for the UFC Hall of Famer. Saying he is “pray[ing] to the MMA gods” to cross paths with Cormier, Buckley recently declared his wish to face him at UFC 307.
Buckley’s Call and Cormier’s reaction
The UFC Missouri’s St Louis Louis, Missouri Many in the MMA world, including Daniel Cormier, were offended by Buckley’s post-fight criticism of Conor McGregor. The former champion called Buckley out for wasting his microphone time by criticizing his decision to trash McGregor. Since then, Buckley has made no secret of his desire to take on Daniel Cormier, taking the criticism very seriously.
Cormier is perplexed as to why Buckley is fixated on this, though. Daniel Cormier questioned why Joaquin Buckley keeps pursuing him in a recent YouTube video alongside Ben Askren. How come fighters are so sensitive? It’s wrong. Really, it’s awful,” Cormier remarked. “Brother, are you aware that Joaquin Buckley is still attempting to abduct and fight me? Hey, why is that the case? why? “Why?”
Askren Supports Cormier’s Criticism
Ben Askren, Cormier’s close friend, has never wavered in his support of Daniel Cormier’s position. Askren expressed his belief that Buckley’s post-fight call for McGregor was unfavorable and advised Joaquin Buckley not to take himself too seriously. Askren said, “I concur with Daniel.” “Joaquin Buckley is my favorite. I believe he’s a kind guy. But after the fight, he believed it to be in the forest. Doing a McGregor call? It was really absurd.

Askren gave Buckley some tips on how to manage the matter more skillfully, advising that a passing reference to McGregor rather than the entire season would have been sufficient. Askren continued, “That would do much better. Say one line to get his name in, then go on the other hand.”
UFC 307: A possible fight?
As UFC 307 approaches, scheduled for Oct. 5 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, the tension between Joaquin Buckley and Daniel Cormier continues to build. Daniel Cormier, who will serve as the event’s color commentator, seems unwavering in his desire to meet Buckley. Despite saying “no beef,” Buckley didn’t rule out the possibility of things getting worse if Daniel Cormier is open. “We can always come in and work this hash out as fighters,” Buckley told MMA Fighting.
But for Cormier, the situation is more exciting than troubling. As Askren spoke, Daniel Cormier chuckled at the thought of Buckley’s lingering anger. “Oh, my God. You have no idea how crazy Joaquin Buckley would be,” Cormier said with a laugh.
What’s next?
As the date of UFC 307 approaches, all eyes will be on Salt Lake City to see if Buckley and Cormier’s paths truly cross. While Buckley seems eager to tackle their issues head on, Cormier remains confident and untroubled. Whether this tension will boil down to a physical confrontation or simply disappear remains to be seen.
