In a surprising turn of events, Corinne Laframboise, the Canadian MMA prospect, has been withdrawn from her scheduled bout on the upcoming episode of Dana White’s Contender Series. The reason behind her removal from the fight with Rainn Guerrero, set for September 5, has left the MMA community astounded – Laframboise recently discovered she was three months pregnant.
Laframboise’s journey to the Octagon was on the cusp of a pivotal moment as she aimed to secure her ticket to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). However, a last-minute twist of fate altered her course dramatically. The revelation came to light when routine blood work was conducted ahead of her Contender Series bout, unveiling the unexpected news that she was expecting a child.
Earlier in the week, the announcement of Laframboise’s withdrawal from her fight with Guerrero had puzzled fight enthusiasts, as no specific reason had been provided. However, the recent revelation explains why the promising fighter was forced to step away from the most significant fight of her burgeoning career.
On Saturday, Laframboise took to Instagram to share a sonogram image of her forthcoming bundle of joy and to convey a heartfelt message to her fans. While she expressed excitement about welcoming her new baby into the world, it’s evident that this development represents a challenging turn of events for the aspiring fighter.
Laframboise’s Instagram post read:
“Surprise Surprise !!!
Wednesday, during the last blood test which was to confirm that everything was OK to leave for the fight of my life; Someone* decided it was going to be different.
We learned that I was 3 months pregnant!!! A huge surprise for you and us!!!
This training camp will have been really different. Having not had sparring since August 2022 (following an ear injury), I allowed myself a few weeks at the start of camp before returning. When I thought I was OK to start, I sprain my ankle and can’t walk/move as I would like for 7-8 weeks = no sparring (except 2 at the end of camp to test the ankle). I tell myself that life is doing things well.
We are more than HAPPY with the news”
This unexpected twist has left the MMA community in awe, and while Laframboise’s career trajectory takes an unforeseen turn towards motherhood, her fans can only hope that she didn’t push herself too hard in preparation for her now-canceled fight.
