In the current clash of words between tech titans Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, Chatri Sityodtong, the CEO of ONE Championship, has thrown his hat into the ring. Sityodtong, known for his role in the world of mixed martial arts and as the founder of Evolve MMA, doesn’t seem to be siding with Elon Musk.
Despite being the head of ONE Championship, Chatri Sityodtong is also a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which makes him well-versed in the world of combat sports. He recently trained with Mark Zuckerberg and was highly impressed by the seriousness and intensity of Zuckerberg’s MMA training.
“I trained with Mark at his house a few months ago together with his teammates under Professor Dave Camarillo. As a brown belt under Renzo Gracie, I can tell you that the training environment was truly world-class with utmost seriousness and intensity,” said Chatri.
Sityodtong, with his extensive experience in matchmaking for thousands of fights, believes that Elon Musk is a classic example of someone who overestimates their fighting ability without actual training or competition experience.
“Elon genuinely knows nothing about fighting or martial arts despite his claims to the contrary. As a lifelong expert martial artist who has been in my fair share of scraps, I can tell simply by the way he is acting,” Chatri stated.
He sees Musk’s behavior as a display of a ‘false sense of bravado’ commonly seen in individuals who have never seriously trained or fought in martial arts.
Recently, Zuckerberg shared a message from Elon Musk, who expressed his desire to fight Zuckerberg at his house. This led to a series of tweets in which Musk claimed to be on his way there.
Chatri Sityodtong took offense to Musk’s behavior and accused him of being a bully. He said, “Elon is one of the greatest entrepreneurs in history, and I have a lot of respect for his guts, accomplishments, and intellect. However, I dislike bullying of any kind.”
Chatri also believes that Musk is using diversionary tactics and doesn’t genuinely want to fight Zuckerberg. This, according to Sityodtong, is a common tactic employed by those who want to avoid a fight.
While it’s unlikely that Elon Musk will actually step into the ring to fight Mark Zuckerberg, Zuckerberg appears to be serious about making his MMA debut. It wouldn’t be a complete surprise if he ended up competing on a ONE Championship card, given his dedication to training and Chatri Sityodtong’s positive assessment of his commitment to the sport.
