Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping believes Sean Strickland holds a significant advantage over Paulo Costa in their upcoming bout at UFC 302. While recognizing Costa’s power, Bisping highlights Strickland’s endurance, especially in the context of the fight’s extended duration.
“Strickland’s got very good boxing,” Bisping explained on his YouTube channel. “We saw that when he beat Israel Adesanya, almost finishing him in the first round. He will go out there, fight ‘dck to dck, nipple to nipple,’ but his style is behind the jab.”
Bisping acknowledges Costa’s formidable punching power but emphasizes Strickland’s superior cardio, a crucial factor in a five-round fight. He describes Costa as an aggressive fighter who expends significant energy with explosive strikes like spinning wheel kicks and left high kicks.
This matchup promises to be intense, with Strickland aiming to bounce back from his recent title loss to Dricus Du Plessis, while Costa seeks redemption following a decision loss to Robert Whittaker.
